I was born on January 23, 1956 in Lansing, MI, the oldest of four children. I was a curious, energetic, willful and sometimes spiteful child. I was extremely competitive, loved sports and was good at them.
In my teen years I discovered drugs, sex and rock and roll (not as much sex as drugs and r&r) and began to drift away from sport. I became a musician – did that for a long time – then began writing for the stage. I got married and became a father (Sidikins!). I got sick for a rather long time and was forced (more or less) to begin exercising in a big way.
I gave up music and writing to pursue my favorite youthful pastime — baseball. In 1990 I was drafted by a senior league located in the San Francisco Bay Area. Over the next 15 years I played at a pretty highly competitive level during which time I divorced, remarried, had another daughter (GG!). After the 2004 season I hung em up so that I could spend the next five years eating and drinking and watching little girl soccer. Who knew I’d get so fat?
It’s August 2009 and here I am 53-years old, out-of-shape, but determined to get it all back and kick some butt in the Master Track and Field world come the 2011 season.
